The tradition
The tradition of ceremonial cacao is rooted in ancient Mesoamerica culture. Cacao is considered a sacred offering amongst many indigenous tribes and is used in rituals to connect with the divine. The Maya refer to cacao as a divine gift and the ‘food of the Gods’ - reflecting its deep cultural, spiritual and mythological importance.
In modern times, cacao is coming back and is shared all over the world. This ancient medicine brings back the importance of ritual and gathering in community, as its spirit guides us back into the heart space.
